The Capitol Building- Washington D.C.

The US Capitol Building is the meeting place of the Senate and the House of Representatives. It is one of the National Mall's most iconic buildings. The planning and naming of the streets are centered around the US Capitol Building, which is worth studying.

Amazing Layout of Washington D.C.
The layout formation of Washington D.C. is centred around the Capitol Building as the centre, the city is virtually formed into four segments, North West, (NW) North East, (NE), South West, (SW) and South East, (SE). The prominent streets are named from 1 st street, incrementing as they go away from the Capitol building. Similarly the prominent crosses are named from the alphabet A Street perpendicular to the streets as they go away from the Capitol Building. The areas containing clusters of streets are named like Pennsylvania Avenue, Newyork Avenue, Wisconsin Avenue etc for better understanding. Washington D.C. is well connected by wide streets with Metro Railways and Metro Buses enhancing the commuting experience. Most of the site seeing places are centred around Washington D.C. Capitol Building. It is good to spend some time in understanding the layouts of the places around the Capitol Building for a better planning and spending the available time effectively. The maps are freely available at any of the Museums for the visitors.
